Crisanta-Inherent-Fate-Front-Cover-RGB-200x300Crisanta Knight: Inherent Fate by Geanna Culbertson

I had learned a lot in the last couple of days. I’d figured out how to defeat a fairytale villain with a Toyota 4Runner, how to surf on furniture (à la Aladdin and his magic carpet), and how to confront my wicked step-grandmother. But these bizarre lessons were only just the beginning.

If I was to overcome the obstacles in my path, I had plenty of learning left to do—about myself, and about my enemies. Between Nadia the queen of villains, and the leader of the Fairy Godmothers, I was in for a lot of trouble in this final phase of our quest to alter our fates. Separated from our friends, Daniel and I had to work together to traverse the kingdom of Alderon and evade the antagonists who were trying to destroy us. Moreover, we had to do it while figuring out whether or not we could truly be friends. Not an easy sell when I was prophesized to put an end to his girlfriend. Can you say awkward?

With our mission drawing to a close, my significance to Nadia, my relationship with Natalie Poole, and my magical power were about to be revealed. But among these great truths, little did I know I was on the verge of discovering a strength that would be infinitely more powerful—one that had been inside me all along . . .

In the Over 50 and Motivated book, Brian Howard will teach you a systematic approach for conducting a real-world job search based on years of frontline recruiting experience helping thousands of tenured job seekers just like you. He will teach you how to effectively conduct a job search in today’s job market and techniques to successfully combat age biases. architect-200x300Be the Architect of Your Life: Design, Build & Start Living a Life Inspired by Karen Otis

In our modern world, so many people are battling unhappiness and dissatisfaction in their lives. Karen Otis, architect and author, delivers a groundbreaking new approach to designing and re-building your life with the creative ingenuity she has used in architecture for decades. By extending her “Architectural Method” to life-building, she reveals a completely new way of thinking where the results are profound, unexpected, life-changing, and transformational. Otis shows you how to take the architectural method of creativity and decision making and project it onto your own life to find direction and fluidity to spiritually “awaken your soul” to a life rich in inspiration and joy.

Whether you are unhappy or unfulfilled with your personal life, your relationships, or your career, this Method holds the answers to change all that. Her eight steps and thoughtful exercises unleash your power to take the mundane and make it meaningful; the expected, and make it memorable. Rather than r-e-a-c-t-i-n-g to life, you can begin c-r-e-a-t-i-n-g your life.

ready-200x300Ready, Fire, Aim! – An Immigrant’s Tales of Entrepreneurial Terror by Charles Ota Heller

Under the best conditions, being an entrepreneur can be filled with anxiety and trepidation. Throw in some challenging circumstances, and trepidation turns to downright terror. Charles Ota Heller is a Holocaust survivor who arrived in the US as a penniless thirteen-year-old who spoke two words of English. Exhibiting strength, persistence, and determination, he earned an athletic scholarship to college and obtained three degrees in engineering. He became an academic at the cutting edge of new computer technology and was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug.

Over the next twenty years as CEO of technology companies and an additional twenty as an investor in, and mentor of, startup companies, Charlie experienced the joys, successes, failures, and terrors of entrepreneurship. When the FBI attempted to shut down his company on a trumped-up charge, memories of World War II and the Gestapo filled him with the terror of uncertainty. He was betrayed by a member of his management team and was deposed from leadership of the company he founded. Then he discovered that his partner in a venture capital fund was dishonest and Charlie had to fight to maintain his own reputation.

Ready, Fire, Aim is the story of his riveting journey, told as a powerful, candid, engrossing adventure that will not only entertain but will leave present and budding entrepreneurs with valuable takeaways.

This book is available for pre-order now and will release on June 1, 2017.

Networking Made Easy

I’m shy. I’ll be the first to admit it. When I meet new people, especially in a group setting, I really have to pull my shoestrings up tight and remind myself that other people are nervous too. And that they are there for the same reason: to make connections, meet new people and share information. And I also have to remember that they aren’t vampires trying to suck the life out of me just by making conversation. (just kidding) (kinda)

But seriously, sometimes there is that one person at a party or business event that seems to float around the room with ease. You know who I’m talking about. Someone who remembers the names of everyone they meet, who introduces people with common interests and then moves on to introduce others, who is so confident and sincere they bring everyone up with them and the event is a shining success. How do those people do it so well?

I’m not exactly sure, and it certainly isn’t natural for me, but I’m trying. Just this morning I went to a networking meeting with a group of writers and I forced myself (out of my comfort zone) to sit next to someone new. Guess what? After we talked a bit, I decided that I had a lot in common with this woman. We traded cards and each have some future projects we can help each other out with.

Networking, when approached with the right mindset can be fun and beneficial for everyone. If you’re new to networking, returning to it after feeling awkward, or on the search for a new job, here is a book to help you find and define success:

networkingThe Motivated Networker by Brian E. Howard, is a practical, no-nonsense guide for networking during a job search. When 60-80% of all jobs are filled through some form of networking, mastering the skill of networking is imperative to success in landing a new job in the shortest time possible! Brian Howard provides a proven and systematic approach for helping thousands of job seekers find hidden job market openings leading to job offers. This book gives you a distinctive competitive edge by teaching networking techniques that will create job leads, interviews, and a fulfilling career position!

The Motivated Networker is part of The Motivated Series, which based off of The Motivated Job Search, the most comprehensive job search guide currently on the market. The Motivated Networker provides networking techniques and insight not otherwise written about, while thoroughly covering typical networking topics. It is a comprehensive approach for today’s job seeker who needs quick and direct guidance for effective networking during a job search.

Dr. Ivan Misner, Founder of BNI (Business Network International) says, “The Motivated Networker is the most comprehensive networking book on the market on how to use networking to find a job. Well-written, thoroughly researched, and practical, The Motivated Networker covers important networking topics and introduces the ‘ICE’ Method for job search networking. It is a must-read for all job seekers!”

motivated-389x600Brian Howard has also written The Motivated Job Search if anyone you know is looking for a new career or job change.
