Crisanta-Inherent-Fate-Front-Cover-RGB-200x300Crisanta Knight: Inherent Fate by Geanna Culbertson

I had learned a lot in the last couple of days. I’d figured out how to defeat a fairytale villain with a Toyota 4Runner, how to surf on furniture (à la Aladdin and his magic carpet), and how to confront my wicked step-grandmother. But these bizarre lessons were only just the beginning.

If I was to overcome the obstacles in my path, I had plenty of learning left to do—about myself, and about my enemies. Between Nadia the queen of villains, and the leader of the Fairy Godmothers, I was in for a lot of trouble in this final phase of our quest to alter our fates. Separated from our friends, Daniel and I had to work together to traverse the kingdom of Alderon and evade the antagonists who were trying to destroy us. Moreover, we had to do it while figuring out whether or not we could truly be friends. Not an easy sell when I was prophesized to put an end to his girlfriend. Can you say awkward?

With our mission drawing to a close, my significance to Nadia, my relationship with Natalie Poole, and my magical power were about to be revealed. But among these great truths, little did I know I was on the verge of discovering a strength that would be infinitely more powerful—one that had been inside me all along . . .

Release Date: September 1, 2017

seeking-201x300Seeking the Shore by Donna Gentry

As the summer of 1934 fades away, Julianna McAllister has every reason to believe she’s widowed from her new husband and the great love of her life, Jace McAllister. She had been a rogue wave when they first met, resisting a life where her wealthy family’s expectations weighted her down like heavy sand. The worst weight was a fiance’ named Leyton, who was driven by strong currents of greed.

Like a tide that carried her to a better land, Jace helped her navigate away from that fate—until a staggering secret from his past collided with Leyton’s determination to reclaim and possess her in hopes of controlling her family’s wealth. The devastating outcome now finds Julianna forced to return to the world she had escaped, only now accompanied by grief as she accepts Leyton’s triumph.

But does she really accept it? She predicts he’ll one day fall and plans to patiently ride out the waves—until one she never anticipated crashes in, forcing her to reconsider how she charts her existence with a man whose name rhymes with Satan.

All she wants is a safe and solid shore on which to freely build a new and peaceful life, but two more unexpected waves are ahead, one with the power to destroy and one with the power to restore.

Uninterrupted, waves always head for the shore to which they’re destined. When these two waves meet and rise up, only one can overtake the other.

Cousin Time – Family Time – Books about Families

We spent time recently at our in-laws house. Between cooking, donut runs, soccer, hiking and Foosball tournaments, there was still time to catch up on family news and events. This year, fortunately most of the news was good. But it isn’t always that way.

Other years there have been more difficult subjects to discuss. You know. The kind that make everyone feel rotten. Every family has them. Whether it is taking Grandma’s car keys away, moving someone to assisted living who doesn’t want to go, money trouble, addiction interventions or unexpected health trouble: these are the kind of conversations that are so hard.

Families in fiction offer many opportunities for drama and conflict as they resolve their issues. If you enjoy reading about other families and seeing how their disagreements work themselves out, here is a list of books that I recommend from BQB Publishing:

Last night the air felt so crisp I donned a pair of fuzzy socks and closed a few windows. Not all of them, but just the ones on the west side of the house where the cool air was sneaking inside. I love fall and everything it brings: the sweetest apples, pumpkins, changing leaves and of course – new fall book releases!

Without making you wait any longer, here are the Fall Fiction Releases from BQB Publishing:

SeveranceGame-400x600Crisanta Knight: The Severance Game by Geanna Culbertson

– A lot of questions ran through my head as I desperately clung to the roof of a magic train crossing over a gaping canyon. Like: How did I get here? What could I have done to avoid this fate? And, did I remember to shave my underarms before coming on this quest?

But even after taking on a witch in a gingerbread house, bloodthirsty actors, and a whole mess of magic hunters and other fairytale shenanigans, the biggest, most pressing question pulsing through my brain as my fingers started to slip and my enemy bore down on me was this:

Could I really trust the person whose life I’d ruined to keep me from falling?

With antagonists closing in, inner demons threatening to consume me, and vivid nightmares chewing up my soul every time I shut my eyes, I was running out of options.

I knew the moment to decide whether or not I could truly trust any of my friends was fast approaching. But my head and heart were stuck. For just like the precarious position I now found myself in, the pain of holding onto the path I’d chosen thus far was outmatched only by the worry I had over (gulp) letting it go…

This is a fantasy adventure for young adults – the second in the series. – Releasing December 6, 2016.

IntoTheLight-416x600Into the Light by Kathryn Ascher

– Jackson Harris fell in love with his best friend’s sister, but at her brother’s request, he stepped out of her life to clean up his act. When he was ready to declare his love to her, she rejected him, sending him back into a tailspin of bad behavior. Four years later, he’s focused on his struggling band and the women who want him, while still trying to forget the one who didn’t. When she suddenly shows up as his band’s new manager, he realizes that, despite his best efforts, his feelings for her haven’t changed a bit.

Kerrigan Dodd has spent the past four years living in Europe, trying to forget that Jackson, the only man she’s ever loved, walked out of her life six years earlier. After returning home, the last thing she expected was that her new job was to manage his failing band. To make matters worse, she barely recognizes the boy she fell in love with in his band persona, and the prospect of spending so much time with him has her questioning her ability to do her job.

As Jack and Kerrigan work to turn the band around, they struggle to overcome the secrets that have kept them apart. Just when they’re coming together, on both fronts, other forces conspire to keep them from reaching their goals. Will they be able to put the past behind them and clear the way for their future? Or are their current differences too much to move beyond?

This contemporary romance is the third in The Rocky Creek Series. – Releasing October 4, 2016.

promise-400x600The Promise of Another’s Life by Red Samuels

– With a vicious lie, young Christian Pentnam changes his destiny from trailer park trash to the son of a wealthy man. But behind the mansion walls is a life of secrets and lies—secrets that haunt him into his adulthood. His love for Rachel and his passion for painting are the two things that help him survive his father’s cruelty, but even those are torn away.

As an adult, the ghosts of Christian’s childhood are buried along with his heart. If he listens to the whispers from the past, he stands to silence a killer who has one last victim square in his scope. Will the secrets and lies of his youth be the destruction of Christian, the man, or will the memories he hid from eventually be his salvation?

This suspenseful thriller will keep readers turning pages until the end! – Releasing September 27, 2016.

watching-406x600Watching the Water by Donna Gentry Morton

– In “Watching the Water,” book 1 of the Heart Tide series, Julianna Sheffield is a rogue wave, one that doesn’t want to land on the shore it seems destined for.

It’s 1934 and the currents pushing her include an unscrupulous father determined to keep the family solvent during the Great Depression, a mother suffocated by the bubble of high society, and a greedy fiance’ named Leyton, who is proving why his name rhymes with Satan. Julianna longs to chart a different course. She wants to help the widows, farmers, and polio victims her family forced into the bread lines. She wants to exchange teacups for drinking milk from the jug. And she dreams of a man named Jace McAllister, another rogue wave who wants to love her but fights the seas bringing them together.

Jace also has a heart for those who are Depression-weary, but his method of helping includes retribution. His reasons are his own, but connected to Julianna’s family. For this seemingly doomed couple, moving forward brings on storms of rage, moral dilemmas, and difficult personal growth. Their love could be the kind that is impossible to live out. . .or the kind from which legends are born. The outcome of their journey depends on how carefully they navigate the waters.

“Seeking the Shore,” the second and final book in this series will release in Spring 2017.

This historical romance will take readers on a stormy ride. – Releasing November 22, 2016.
