~ By Kathleen Bettilyon, author of The Uppity Swans and The Turtle Brothers of Joseph’s Pond (releasing Dec. 4, 2012)
I can’t believe I am actually writing a blog today. It has been three years
since I started the journey that led me to writing children’s stories and
becoming familiar with information systems such as emails, social networking, texting, and websites.
If you have heard the croaking (no pun intended) about Frampton the Frog, he is my creation and through my daughter’s inspiring idea out of jest one day, this frog has become a reality in my life. I had some time, a pencil, and a spiral notebook and that was the beginning of this great adventure. I authored my very first book in 2010 and if it wasn’t for my family, friends, and faith, it would have never happened. I am thankful for the opportunity and support through this new chapter in my life of writing.
I have just recently published my second book and through a friend’s referral, found a new publisher, BQB, that was willing and able to take my exact ideas and bring them into this story. The illustrations were beyond my expectations and the quality of the book is incredible.
In life we all must face challenges and limitations, but through our adversity, God shows us that he can overcome, and that when we are weak, he is strong. This was my inspiration for Frampton’s crippled leg, and through his own physical weakness, he has learned to rely on God’s strength, not his own. Frampton is a servant wherever God puts him in Jacob’s Meadow and he always finds an adventure just around the corner with other creatures.
I cannot wait for you and your family to enjoy and discover this heartfelt children’s story: The Uppity Swans and the Turtle Brothers of Joseph’s Pond.
